1. A little about yourself. What is unique about you? I am a 46 year old married mother of three girls. I suppose the most unique quality I have, is I write without a plot or reason. I use my eyes to investigate what surrounds me and write it down.

2. What is your book about? My book is about a 22 year old woman, Jenna Kramer who is married to a very controlling and abusive man, 39 year old Senator Benjamin Kramer.

In Jenna’s mind this is how love and marriage is, so she accepts it and takes the punishment that Benjamin hands out to her. Its not, until she meets and an affair ensues between her and 26 year-old attorney, Andrew Carington, that she finds her life can be different.

There is only one problem with the life of happiness that Jenna desires, her husband Ben Kramer, will never let her go and her life plummets into a dark

3. What inspired your book? The judgment of society is that if a woman is abused, seek help. But it is not that easy, sometimes. I speak for the women, who have sought help, yet are still dealing with the abuser, as Jenna has had to. Domestic violence is a problem that needs to be taken care of in the higher courts. As my story explains, people of higher influence, tend to slide out of punishment for their crimes against the innocent.

4. What is the most rewarding part of being an author? Being able to share your words and thoughts and other’s appreciating them

5. What has been the most challenging part of being an author? Attempting to write what your mind is thinking. It is hard to find the right words some of the times to match the thoughts your mind is revealing.

6. What advice would you give a new author writing their first book? Write with honesty. Don’t write to please others, right only to please yourself.

7. Do you have any promotion tips for Indie Authors? Yes. Make sure you use a book promoter who is understanding and patient as I have found with Elite Book Promotions.

9. Write about your passion and promote yourself in 200 words or less. Writing is like breathing, it is something so natural, yet so needed. It is relaxing and fulfilling to read the words you have written, it brings a serenity that only other authors understand. I do not write for recognition from my peers. I do it because I need to. It’s not on a moment’s notice, I write. I write to release the thoughts that fill my head on a daily basis.

I do not use an outline, or think of a plot. It just happens, it comes to me and I write it down. If it is a drive down the road, that billowy cloud hovering above you, or the ocean crashing to the shore. That woman sobbing in the train station, or the little boy crying over his hurt puppy. My mind wanders, just by all of these small incidents, it does not take anything around it for granted. It takes all the natural inner feeling and puts it into words.

About the Author- Lorraine Pestell

Lorraine Pestell was born in London and has had a successful career as an Information Technology professional in the UK, US, Europe, Singapore, and more recently Australia. Lorraine currently resides in Melbourne, Victoria, with her 13-year-old dog.
Although still working full-time, Lorraine is a passionate volunteer for several organisations, including serving on the Board of Directors of Propel Youth Arts WA, being a mentor for The Smith Family’s iTrack program and providing project management assistance to The School Volunteer Program. She finds that volunteering time and energy to those less fortunate is an effective antidote to life-long depression and the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The idea for “A Life Singular” originated when Lorraine was 14 years old, and the story has continued to develop in fits and starts since then, whenever time and life events permitted. However, three years ago, a new element of the plot triggered a sudden urge to complete the novel, and since then the story has evolved into six separate parts.

Part Two

Writing an autobiography on behalf of someone else presented Jeff with an interesting dilemma. Did he make assumptions about what Lynn would have included, or should he restrict her contribution to direct quotes from her letters and diaries? He had their kids to protect, and her parents…

As he worked through the huge amount of material available in the press about their life as it had taken shape, interlacing it with highly personal stories, the widower crafted chapter after chapter of memories, both happy and heartbreaking. If this was to be a true account of their partnership, he owed it to the memory of his beautiful best friend to cover so much more than what was already on public record.

When it came to adding his own reminiscences of those early months, about meeting someone he already knew intimately, Jeff had no difficulty in recalling every single, vivid moment. Entire conversations came back to him, sometimes word for word, rushing through his fingers and into the computer.

Photographs prompted him too, as did the treasured possessions that surrounded him, like the old leather jacket he had received on his twentieth birthday. Lynn had left him shortly after that, just like she had left him now. The pull of being together again was unrelenting, but Jeff hung on to the dream that their life singular would one day resume.

7 Secrets of Book Promoting

I get asked a lot about how to effectively market books and increase sales. Marketing your ebook is testing the waters for sure. Nonetheless, publishing a book is a goal for every writer, so if you have finished your book, be proud of yourself. This is a huge achievement! What is next? Now is the best time to get your book seen. It will never be a new book again, so it is time to get busy. To get your e-book in front of as many viewers as possible, you will need a plan. There are plans that work and plans that do not. I am here to save you time and effort.The goal is to get your book seen by as many people as possible. The question is how can you do that in the most efficient way?  I am going to tell you what I have learned in many hours of trial and error. Here are the top ten methods of book promoting.

1. Social Media Platform

Social media has been my biggest asset. I can actually watch book sales increase after a day of promoting on a few platforms. Ideally, you want to set up a blog site and social media platforms prior to publishing a book. It takes time to establish a presence so allow for this. I recommend Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google +, and Pinterest. Blogger is a user friendly blog site to start. You will need to invest time every day for promoting. This is an investment in your passion and your future. I spend about 5 hours a day on social media promoting.

• Write a teaser from your book, and offer an incentive for signing up for your email newsletter. Time commitment: 1 hour.

• Follow like minded people on Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook: 1 hour

• Join groups on LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Facebook: 1 hour

• Introduce your book to 2 to 3 LinkedIn groups (1 hour). Create a variety of tweets giving information found in the ebook (1 hour). Time     commitment: 3 hours.

2. Blog site

I have been asked why it is so important to blog. Does it really make a difference? Yes, it does. The more people that you can drive to your site, the more buzz you will create. You also want to be established as an authority. This will get you higher on Google’s list. When you are an authority, you will start getting a fan base. It develops trust and interest. If you are unsure what to write about, start with your process of writing. Treat it as a journal, expand on a subject in your book, or share your process of writing your novel. Many successful authors begin their blogs months or years before they publish a book. The other option is to be a guest on another established blog. The amount of time invested is worth it.  I spend about 6 hours promoting blogs.

• Write a post for your blog. Time commitment: 2.5 hours.

• Write a feature guest article on a topic in your book. Time commitment: 3.5 hours.

3. Give It Away for Free.

Run a free Kindle Direct Promotion for two days. If you have several books, it is always good to have one free at all times. Readers love to get deals and they usually want to see other books the author has written, so it leads to sales of your other books. It also increases your author rank. You can also just hand out your publication as a pdf. Another way, is to have a contest for a free book give away. You can have a contact form on your site and start an email list. This creates a value to the book as it is now a prize. It takes 5 minutes to set up a KDP free promotion, or change your price to free. If you choose to promote as a contest, it will take around 2 hours.

4. Reviews, Reviews, Reviews

The best way to get reviews, is to ask. Send messages on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkdIn asking for reviews. It is also effective to trade with other authors. You can offer your book as a PDF, so they do not have to pay for it. If you want an Amazon verified review, they must purchase it on Amazon. I have not had a problem with this. I have found an unlimited resource of reviewers on Twitter. Most readers welcome the opportunity to read new books and help authors. I spend 1 hour on Twitter asking for reviews and communicating with reviewers.

5. Develop Buzz

Produce some buzz regarding your e-book by chatting regarding it on your social network. You will become more efficient in branding yourself and talking about your ebooks on forums. Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn will certainly be a crucial tools of promoting your e-book. You want to start a few weeks prior to your publication to talk about a unique quality of your book. Create anticipation and excitement.

6. Make a Video.

Buyers love YouTube. They also want to see the face of the author behind the ebook. They want to hear you and see you. Make a brief video clip speaking to the video camera talking about how your ebook can help others. It can be a brief synopsis or you sharing your methods of writing. Share what you have learned.

Create a YouTube channel. Then, share your video on your YouTube channel, with a post on Facebook, LinkedIn and tweet the web link. You could repetitively use your video clip as advertising on guest blogs. You can continue to alter the intro material you post along with the video URL. You will connect with your fans on a new creative level with this. As you gain subscribers on your channel, your audience will continue to grow. You can also feature reviews on your channel. This will evolve as you go. Have fun with it.

7. Book Trailer

Book trailers are a hot new way to promote books. Think of all the movie sales as a result of the trailers. They show at least 10 minutes of trailers before the feature film at the theaters. It creates a huge buzz about the movies coming out. Imagine if we did not have these? I already have a list of movies to see in 2014 and they are not even out! This is the same concept with book trailers. It creates a need, on impulse. It is effective to show before a book comes out. It is also a great promotion tool to add to your YouTube channel.
